N400,000 Brand New Cars Coming
By Femi Osinusi – 04.07.2009

NIGERIANS, from early next year, may be able to buy a brand new car for just N400,000.

Indication to this emerged on Friday as it was gathered that India’s largest vehicle manufacturers, Tata, is planning to introduce ultra-cheap car, Nano, into the Nigerian market.

According to reports, the company will, from 2010, introduce the Nano brand along with its Indica Vista hatchback and Sumo Grande models in to the African market with Nigeria expected to be its first port of call.

It said the beautiful car would cost between N375,480 and N400,000 when it is launched in Nigeria in 2010.

According to its website, Tata Nano is the world’s most affordable car in the market. It has an engine of 32 LP, a tank of 624cc, a two-cylinder engine placed at the rear of the vehicle.

It also said the main body of the car is steel while the bumpers are plastic. It weighs 1,322 pounds and has space for four passengers.

However, it could not be ascertained whether the vehicle would be assembled in Nigeria or imported directly from India, but sources said the car and other brands would also be sold in South Africa and Senegal, but that Nigeria would be the first port of call of the car.

Posted by Admin on April 22, 2009

Not again,

Someone at www.ifunaya.com is still fuming at my post titled: Ifunaya.com, the new kind of spam, which was a plain and simple candid post after I received the email in the post. While I accepted the advice of Waka-about a commenter on the ifunaya post, last 15th-April, and I decided to let the case rest, heres an harassment email from NGEX.com, through the auspices of one Mr. Akin Alao.

Here is his email.

Dear www.ifunaya.com

Dear, Mr. Akin Alao

Your email is appreciated, with many thanks. Its a pleasure that you have read through this weblog and the only information you find useful, for which you decided to send a threat message(the above) is the post relating to ifunaya.com.

I do not suppose you read the post yourself, since you said you were just informed. Please re-read the original post before you send in your next letter. For the purpose of information, kindly note that the post you complained about is not libelous and neither did I mean to run-down your company / destroy your business. I am not a member of ifunaya.com, neither am I interested in signing up. I have nothing against your company and business interests whatsoever. I don’t even know you, to begin with.

Its already past 48-hours since your threat email and I was just thinking:

I consider it plain and simple harassment. You have not considered the implications of your own email. Is there smoke without a fire? What if indeed I can prove the email in my post came from Ifunaya.com? what would be your course of action. Sir, I would demand more than an apology for your harassing me.

Have you considered all avenues, whether my claims are true or false? Won’t it be better for you to sue me first, then I could sue you and your web properties 10-times whatever amount you place on my head – for damages too. I would use the amount then to buy, cash, your ifunaya.com.

If I were you, I could have offered an apology first, and asked to see the header/s of the email. At least you would be in the good books, but considering the line of action you are willing to take, please note I have my case files prepared.

warm regards

NTTAdmin

p.s: I’m not angry. I’m just giving it to you the way you gave it to me.

Lagos school, Doregos, produces youngest Microsoft certified professionals

Posted by Admin on February 28, 2009

THE dream of the Federal Government in producing kids that will take the country to the next level in ICT is gradually being achieved through Doregos Private Academy in partnership with New Horizons.

Doregos has made another history in the country by becoming the first school to produce the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional in the area of Client-End Operating system the Microsoft business solution tool.

On Friday February 13, Davidson Oseremen and Alade Oluwaseun aged 12 and 13 respectively, emerged as the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in Nigeria. They are SS1 Science students from Doregos Private Academy, an educational institution that aspires to be the best and unbeaten in the education sector.

Microsoft Certified Professional is an internationally recognised certification programme provided by Microsoft Corporation. This is tailored to building skills on Microsoft Business Solutions, which focuses on Client-End operating systems such as Windows XP, Vista With the skill acquired from this certification, these young Nigerians stand the chance of securing high paying holiday jobs as System Administrators, Helpdesk Support Analyst or a System Engineer.

Moreover, the qualification places them on a higher pedestal when compared with students, their age or class.

It will be recalled that the achievement of these two kids is similar to that of Bill Gates and Michael Dell, who started their software/Hardware projects at around age 13.

In the light of this the school has fully embraced ICT training for her students as introduced by New Horizons Systems Solutions Limited, the initiator and brain behind training of Information Technology courses in Nigerian schools of learning i.e. primary to tertiary institutions.

The school started the ICT Partnership programme with New Horizons Systems Solutions Limited in 2005, making her the first school in Nigeria to integrate ICT training into her academic curriculum from JSS 1 to SSS 3.

It would be recalled that the Proprietress, Mrs C.A. Doregos made a statement that “as a result of our ICT partnership with New Horizons Systems Solutions Limited, we stand a greater chance of retaining all the trophies and medals we have won in various ICT competitions in the past… our students also have a professional touch to computer training.”

By this feat, Doregos products can compete effectively with their counterparts in Europe, America and Asia as the certification is recognised worldwide as the main parameter to determine a candidate’s IT skills.

This decision has endeared the hearts of many parents to the school and records have it that for some parents, who came late to enroll their children at the school it was a case of being turned back as most of the classes were already filled to capacity. This development can be attributed to the disciplined leadership and excellent management style of the Management and staff of the school coupled with the partnership formed with New Horizons.

Since this partnership started, the school has won several awards both at the state and international level. In 2008, the school won the best ICT Students award in Lagos State (Agu Agatha) and Davidson Oseremen assembled Personal Computer System at Sheraton Hotel & Towel in 2007.

The school came 1st in the Young Science Technology Association competition held in Ibadan and later represented Nigeria in Brazil for the International Science Expo, where Nigeria won five medals and two trophies. The school won three medals out of five. She was also first in the National Secondary Schools Intellectual capacity building competition, and Nigerian Science Fair.

New Horizons, the world leading IT company and the first IT company to fully integrate professional ICT Certification courses into Nigerian universities and schools academic curricula is proud to be associated with these achievements, particularly the success of Alade Oluwaseun and Davidson Oseremen for becoming the youngest MCPs’ in Nigeria.

The company implements World Class/ Standard ICT Curriculum using Certified IT Instructors with Original Courseware certified by IT vendors for training both primary and secondary schools.

This achievement is in fulfillment of the vision of Bill Gates, who desired that Information Technology be taught to young people across the world at a very early age in life. This would bring about the sharpening of such young minds in IT related issues.

According to the Principal of the Academy, Mr. J.O. Adebayo “New Horizons without doubt packages World class ICT curriculum for our students. We are really enjoying it.” The Proprietress, Mrs C.O Doregos added that “I’m very happy and excited that my school has produced the youngest Microsoft Certified Professionals (MCPs). The students have been doing excellently in ICT and all areas of Education. New Horizons has been a blessing to the school in terms of developing the ICT skills of the students”.

She advised school owners and administrators to allow professionals to handle their ICT Training rather than allowing quacks to continue teaching their students, this will also have a great effect in developing technology in Nigeria by providing the right skills, knowledge and tools for the students.

She strongly recommended New Horizons ICT Partnership programme to all schools so that we can breed world class students that will innovate technology to change Nigeria.
