When teachers cheat in examinations, what do we expect them to teach their students:
THE Kwara State government has suspended 24 teachers for cheating during the Teachers’ Development Needs Assessment Test conducted recently.
The test was conducted by the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. The suspension order was contained in a statement signed recently in Ilorin by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Alhaji Bolaji Abdullahi.
It said the suspension was with immediate effect. The statement said it was disheartening to note that those who were expected to be role models could get involved in such reprehensible acts. It directed the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to set up a disciplinary committee to investigate the level of involvement of each of the teachers.
The statement reiterated government’s commitment to ensuring disciplinary in its education sector. In another development, the SUBEB said it would give permanent appointments to successful teachers, who participated in the first and second batches of the Federal Teachers Scheme.
The board said in a statement by its Secretary, Mr. Ibrahim Woru, that it would soon conduct the requisite examination for the exercise.

If these teachers could cheat as teachers, I wonder what they did as students. I also wonder how they passed through the University.
